Support from our community members and many more will allow dozens of our local children to start school with the supplies they need!
When Suffolk County Legislator Kevin Mccaffrey heard a call for school supplies throughout the various communities in the Town of Babylon, he teamed up with Assemblyman Michael Durso and our local community coalition for a supply drive.
There’s no shortage of volunteerism among the communities in the Town of Babylon, so over a dozen private citizens responded to the call. Connecting our communities to ensure residents are aware of resources that are available and accessible to all who need them is a goal of the Lindenhurst Community Cares Town of Babylon Cares Project and this organization will assist in distributing the donations to local students.
The coalition was happy to partner at the West Babylon High School with government officials, youth, West Babylon Volunteer Fire Dept and local residents. Kevin McCaffrey reports that “many of the students could use an extra helping hand, particularly as we begin in-person versus virtual learning this year.” The Ridgewood Savings Bank, located in Lindenhurst, New York, sponsored the campaign with a $100.00 donation to purchase specialty supplies like calculators that sometimes cause extra hardship for families trying to get multiple students ready for the school year.
Assemblyman Durso and Legislator McCaffrey extend a sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by and made the supply drive a success!
The support of our community members, including the West Babylon Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgewood Savings Bank Assistant Manager Ronald Johnson, Supervisor Rich Schaffer and Town Clerk Geri Compitello means dozens of our local children will start school with the supplies they need!
