Protect our loved ones—youth, seniors, & pets—against addiction and overdose by simply and safely disposing of unused, unwanted, and expired prescription medications. The Village of Lindenhurst, The Lindenhurst Moose Lodge, Lindenhurst Community Cares, and Suffolk County Police C.O.P.E. have joined forces to create a united front in preventing addiction and overdose deaths in our community.
Hope For Youth will be there to show you how to use Narcan—an easy-to-use nasal spray that can reverse an opioid overdose in minutes. You’ll learn how to spot the signs, how to use it the right way, and you’ll leave with your own Narcan kit. It’s quick, it’s free, and honestly… it could mean everything in the moment it’s needed.

WHAT’S IN OUR PILLS
Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drug epidemics, found in many counterfeit pills. It has nearly 200 different analogs and can come in powder or liquid form. Common analogs include acetylfentanyl, butyrfentanyl, carfentanil, alfentanil, sufentanil, and remifentanil. For example, para-Fluorofentanyl is 50 times more potent than heroin, and ortho-Methylfentanyl is as potent as fentanyl itself. Even if pills contain less than 2mg of fentanyl, the cutting agents make them equally lethal.
Please note that Naloxone does not work for any of these agents alone because none of these are opioids.
Flubromazolam
Synthetically made benzodiazepine that is lethal at 3mg (almost as lethal as fentanyl).
Medetomidine
Surgical anesthetic, often used in combination with fentanyl and xylazine.
Causes vasoconstriction, hypotension, slower respiratory rate, heightened sedation, bradycardia, and slow heart rate.
Levamisole
-Leading veterinary dewormer for cattle worldwide.
Potentiates cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl, extending the high.
Can cause infection and disease.
Phenylbutazone (But)
– Induces blood disorders and destroys bone marrow, reducing the ability to produce red and white blood cells.
Clonazolam
Counterfeit Xanax, synthetically made benzodiazepine that is 4 times more potent than fentanyl.
Metamizole
Previously used in aspirin but removed due to depleting white blood cells.
Commonly used to cut cocaine, making the body vulnerable to infection and disease.
Interacts with heroin and fentanyl, prolonging the high and increasing pill potency.
Xylazine
Causes overdoses when used alone.
Acetaminophen
Popular cutting agent for pills, making them easier to smuggle.
Tylenol should not exceed 3000mg a day due to liver problems.
Users taking fentanyl pills may consume about 50 pills a day, posing long-term and chronic dangers.
Methamphetamine
Mixed with cocaine and fentanyl to make speed.
Pentobarbital
Combined with fentanyl and xylazine to create a highly potent and lethal mixture.
